Template that is good for events and memberships

    Hi all,

    I’m new to wordpress so go easy on me.
    I’m in the process of creating a website for a running club I’m a member of. I’m working with a couple of developers too on it as we need some bespoke forms and membership management. My idea is too use a wordpress template for the backbone of the site as it will work well on mobile as well as computer and hopefully will be able to add content quite simply.
    The developers are asking me to provide them with a template and I did but they say they are too basic and I need to pick one that is more geared to event/membership. I was presuming they would be able to add the forms them selves but…..

    Can you suggest a theme that would be good for adding forms too and events (i.e. calenders and such).

    this is support forum for people using WordPress.com, a publishing platform.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Since you’re using WordPress.org, a software, you have to ask elsewhere, namely on WordPress.org.

    You can take a look in theme or plugins directory, which are free, or googling for premium solutions.

    Thanks for that but I have tried to look at the themes and plugins and I suggested a few to the developers but they rejected them saying they were “too simplistic” so I was hoping to get some advice here as I dont know what am looking for.

    Then you have an option to google for premium plugins, unfortunately I can’t tell you which to choose as I don’t use any. However, there are plenty of WordPress user groups with lot of nice people there.

    Lets be clear on this please. WordPress.COM is a turnkey operation. It’s not for sophisticated membership setups at all. It’s for folks who don’t code and who don’t hire developers to help them. That’s what WordPress.ORG software is for. Please read the comparison here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ I suggest hiring a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting and setting up a WordPress.ORG install.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums.

    If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
