Temporarily hiding a post using the trash button
-
Hi,
I want to temporarily hide one of my posts and was wondering if that was possible? I know I could just delete the post and then write it up word for word as a new post later on, but obviously I’d lose the original comments. If I “trash” the post does that permanently send into the wordpress abyss never to be recovered or is there an option allowing me to bring the post back in full (complete with comments) at a future date? I know this is arguably a pointless task because of google cache but would still love some pointers on this.
Many thanks in advance

I have set Posts back to “Draft” when I just wanted to take them off the blog, I have no idea what that would do to the comments.

I would suggest setting it to private rather than trashing it. If you accidentally clicked the “empty trash” button, then it would be gone along with the comments.
Are you worried about other contributors or authors seeing the post or are you just wanting to hide it temporarily from the public?

Thanks for the help everyone. Have set it to private, a bit embarassing that I didn’t already know that function existed.
@thesacredpath Just wanting to temporarily hide it from the public. The contents of the post I now want to submit elsewhere to an online literary mag I enjoy so I would rather remove or hide the post until that process is complete and then put it back when I get the inevitable rejection.
