Temporary disabling my blog

  Hi. I’m thinking of changing the theme of my blog, but I don’t want it to be read whilst I’m doing the change. I want to ensure that it looks as good as I would like, so I was wondering how to temporarily take my blog offline and show a ‘Work in Progress’ type screen. Is this possible?

  About the best thing to do is to change it from ‘public’ (viewable) to ‘private’ Dashboard > Settings > Reading then go to Site Visibility and uncheck ‘Allow search engines to index this site’ and select ‘I want my site to be private……’ which will allow it to be viewed only by yourself and anyone you invite.
