  I would like to have my website show a static cite in progress page until I am done editing. How can I do this?

  Hi!

  In your Dashboard, under Settings -> Reading, you can change your site visibility to private.
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Or you can setup a static page as your home page:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  Your site is self-hosted so you need to ask support from WordPress.org instead. Their support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support/

  Just create an account there if you don’t already have one and they should be better able to help you there.
