    Hi @sarahpterry, in the future, just to prevent confusion for those coming to a thread later, can you start a new thread if you are asking a different issue? Many thanks in advance.

    To change the opacity of the black background behind the site title, add the following CSS which uses rgb color and an alpha transparency filter.

    .site-branding {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
}

    The first three numbers in the parenthesis are the RGB color values and the fourth number, 0.5 is the opacity. The closer to 1, the more opaque, the closer to 0, the more transparent. Adjust that number as desired.
