Hey @thepacifichook, sad to see you go. Was there anything you were unsatisfied with?
To answer your question, the domain and hosting are separate entities. It won’t affect your domain after hosting is cancelled as long as you are paying for the domain.
If you just want to switch hosts, you will need to change nameserver to your new host, please visit https://wordpress.com/support/change-name-servers/ to see how you can change the nameservers.
If you want to transfer the domain out of wordpress.com refer to the support page at https://wordpress.com/support/transfer-domain-registration/
Let me know if you have additional queries.

Hi there,
Your site at https://thepacifichook.com/ isn’t hosted with us, and that domain also isn’t registered through us, so we’re not able to answer this for you.
With most hosting providers, if you cancel your hosting, that will immediately result in your site going offline and your files being deleted from your hosting provider’s servers. With some hosts you might be able to still download a backup copy of your site after this, but with some hosts cancelling your hosting will also immediately delete all backups of your site.
So it’s best if you reached out to your hosting provider directly in this case to get their advice.
If you want to switch your site to another provider, I’d recommend you first set up a new site at the new provider, and migrate your content over before you transfer your domain or cancel your hosting at your current provider. Your new hosting provider should be able to advise you if they offer any full-site migration options you can use. Otherwise there’s also site migration plugins, or you can use the built-in export/import feature in WordPress.
The forum you’re posting now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. The only association we have with your site is that you have it connected here via the Jetpack plugin. That allows you to manage your content using our tools, but we have no control over your site itself.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
@rawalplawit, thanks for trying to help, but as the OP’s site isn’t hosted on WordPress.com, none of the information you provided is relative to them. Before giving WordPress.com-specific advice, always make sure you’re actually dealing with a WordPress.com site :)If you haven’t yet, I suggest you take a look at our volunteers support doc – it has a number of tips to help you help people in the forums:
