Terms of Service – ADS

Ummm … for the record we can all see your stats here http://www.quantcast.com/alandale.wordpress.com

I’m not convinced that you understand that WordPress.com is providing free hosting with no extra bandwidth changes at all – bandwidth here is not a factor. They call the tune and your blog is a free rider begging for inclusion into their WordAds program. Staff make the call as to whether or not any blog is accepted into the WordAds program and that the result is a 50/50 split with WordPress.com.

When thesacredpath speaks he is speaking from experience as he has clients on WordPress.org installs who do run advertising on their self-hosted WordPress.org installs.

  • Unknown's avatar

So if WordAd approves of it then I am all good?

WordPress.com WILL NOT approve of you putting ads on your site hosted here at wordpress.COM. It ISN’T going to happen. Period. End of story.

I’m not sure how much more clear I can be on that.

Pry open your wallet, hire a web host such as godaddy, bluehost, etc., install the wordpress.ORG software and then advertise to your heart’s content.

  • Unknown's avatar

“OMG you need 1,500 hits a day to even be considered for AD placement consideration”

Where do you see that stated by either me or thesacredpath? Why are you putting quote marks around words we did not say? I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, you mentioned wordads and I was thinking just straight advertising.

With wordads, you have no control over the ads placed on your site, and you cannot put YOUR OWN ads on your site. You are limited to what wordads serves up on your site.

If you want control over the ads and you want to try to be an ad mogul, then you need to self-host a site.

  • Unknown's avatar

I didn’t say WordPress would allow. So then what WordAd?????
And so you can “see” my stats?
    Ok?
Does it see 105 subscribers through Networked?
    Oh…it doesn’t?
But not the 1,500-plus hits last week
and almost 1,600 plus and more this week….
    IT WAS A SIMPLE QUESTION
WordAd allows, but according to some I should have 1,500 hits a day….to make $8.25 a month?
So how can I keep my page as is AND get ads….through ORG or what????
    These are simple questions….

  • Unknown's avatar

    Oh okay…
    TIMETHIEF “Flagged me?”
    For what?
I am not going to post ADS unless given permission…..
    I already said that….
And yes look above to see 1,500 daily was mentioned
GOD FORBID quotes around a paraphrase.
    Seriously? Grow up.
As for SACREDPATH….yeah, see I wasn’t sure if you could do it on here through a software after permission or if you could transfer it whole to ORG…etc….
    Thanks sir.

  • Unknown's avatar

So how can I keep my page as is AND get ads….through ORG or what????

You cannot have any blogger initiated advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.
Wordpress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate. I have posted this link twice before. Please click and read the information http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
    To move a blog see > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

  • Unknown's avatar

Can I flag someone for erroneously flagging me?
    Seriously….
I get grand numbers thrown at me with no logic attached…
    and I get “flagged”
    Seriously can I report Timethief?

  • Unknown's avatar

I flagged this thread to you as a service so Staff will enter this thread and provide a better explanation than either thesacredpath or I can.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Oh well then I apologize…but you didn’t clarify…
    So when I saw “flagged”
Two things I do not do
    1. Play dirty
    2. Cheat
I have zero intention of doing either and just want to know how I can keep this site as is but still get ads….
The popularity is growing quickly…don’t need to make changes in the middle of over 130 remaining interviews…..
    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

    WORDADS.

That is your only choice here – if you are accepted.

  • Unknown's avatar

So if I wanted to do anything Id lose all my work?
    Nice….
    I’m glad THEY can decide….whatever…
If I am willing to follow the rules I should be able to put AD space up.
    Period.

  • Unknown's avatar

No you can’t. You have to live by the TOS and rules here, and you are NOT in control of those. AutoMATTic is.

If you want control then pry open your wallet and pay to self-host your own site.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Again not my point….
I think having THEM decide who and who cannot advertise is ridiculous
But hey it must be working since you have to have 1,500 hits a day to make $10 a month lol
    whatever
    I could make $100 a month in three ads….
Their loss if they say no

  • Unknown's avatar

It is their playground. They make the rules.

Self-host your own site. That will be your playground and you can make YOUR own rules (subject of course to the TOS of your webhost).

  • Unknown's avatar

Understood, but to some degree they are cutting off their noses to spite their face.
So I couldn’t save any of this or move it over…
    jesus….
Well I will figure it out…

  • Unknown's avatar

You have a free rent blog with lots of lovely features in someone else’s blog apartment.
You don’t have to pay the utilities (bandwidth) butt that doesn’t make you happy — oh no! You have a king of the castel complex and want to dictate to your landlord which ads you will place on their real estate … lol .. :D I this a freaking hoot! I’m tempted to blog it and punt you through the goal posts of life. BTW were born in the 1980’s?

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry about the typos. I’m visually challenged and I was laughing so hard I made errors when typing.

  • Unknown's avatar

So I couldn’t save any of this or move it over…

You can move the blog content you have now and I already posted that link for you for moving a blog > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog
