Tertiary text colour not holding
-
I have three main colours for certain words on my site: bright purple, orange and green. Purple and orange are specified as primary and secondary colours in the theme, green is tertiary. However, after life has taken me away for six months I see that my tertiary colour green is not holding in my new posts (currently drafted). It is still specified as a tertiary colour in my site settings but is not showing on draft or published posts. I had this before where primary and secondary colours were replaced with a bright yellow flash and I wonder if something similar has happened now.

Hi there,
I see that my tertiary colour green is not holding in my new posts (currently drafted). It is still specified as a tertiary colour in my site settings but is not showing on draft or published posts.
I’ve taken a look at a few drafts on your site, but I’m not sure I understand the issue. To clarify, this is affecting the color of text you are selecting? Or the color of some other elements on the page. What is the best example I can take a look at to see this issue in action.
Is the issue that you try to set something as your tertiary (green) color but that setting is not saved or shown in the editor? Thanks for walking us through it in greater detail!

Thanks for your response, Jerry.
I have a green colour set as my tertiary colour (shade #35845d as it is right now) which is supposed to be used to highlight the name of a character, but that does not show as activated on the text when I try to use it. The text stays black whereas with the words highlighted in orange and purple, the highlight remains.
Sections 10 onwards should have the character’s name highlighted in green, and previously this was the case. Now the highlight has been removed throughout although it still shows as set on my settings.
I’m wondering if it would just be easier to reset the colour, seeing as the highlight has vanished throughout. I have screenshots but not sure how to attach them for information.

Okay, I think I see it. In the post
12. It was happiness, I can seeThe Writershould be highlighted in green:It’s a bug within the editor, and it was already reported to our developers, so hopefully, it will get fixed soon. In the meantime, if it’s important for you to highlight particular words, try using the Classic block, instead of Paragraph. Although not ideal, It might be a good temporary solution for you.

Yes, that’s it! Thanks. In the section I’m working on now (part 13), the colours become very significant.
I had a similar problem before when the colours for the other two characters were replaced with a yellow highlight instead. I don’t know why, but this always seems to happen when I’ve been absent for a while. I guess that’s a hint, right? Regular attendance to the blog stops confused posts to the forum…
I’ll wait on the developers working their magic and concentrate on creating content to upload when it’s all fixed.

Unfortunately that workround of trying the classic editor brings back the yellow flash highlights on colour changed text which were the problem last time I had a problem with the blog. Plus my preferences for specific colours are not covered in the default palette so I would have to go and change every single instance of all my characters’ names across the series of posts.
The tertiary colour selection on the page only seems to allow the default (pale silver grey), rather than the specialist shade I wanted (green). It shows green, but comes up grey instead.
The colours I selected are all set correctly in the theme:
#eef4f7 – white background colour
#1f2527 – black foreground colour
#8a16f7 – purple primary Seeker
#ffb302 – orange secondary Creator
#35845d – green tertiary Writerbut when selected on a post, the tertiary colour doesn’t show as green, but grey, meaning the Writer’s name disappears into the background.
The only two colours I have changed from the default shades are the primary and the tertiary. The primary colour is still holding, but the tertiary is wrong for my preference. Plus it looks strange on my blog as I have a white background.
Hopefully this issue is still under investigation?

It looks like you may have already fixed the post we’re referring to. But would you be willing to make a test draft post that shows what you’re seeing?
If possible:
– Add a paragraph that shows examples of your different colors and what they should be. For example, you could say “purple” “orange” and “green” and change the colors to match the words.
– Do the same thing in a classic block.
And if you want to add any screenshots to it so we have a better idea of what you’re seeing, that would be great, too.

Not sure I know how to add screenshots to posts. If someone could tell me, that would be useful, please.
The colours for the characters are integral to the series so it would be handy to know I didn’t make a complete mess of the whole thing.
When typing the drafts, the tertiary colour shows as grey, which is strange. Last night even the published version was showing grey. For the tertiary colour grey is the default for the theme.
https://rainbowchazersramblings.wordpress.com/2022/04/03/test-post/ is my test post. It now seems to show as green when published, which is an improvement on the disappearing-into-the-background grey that the draft shows.

I know the internet is under some strain at the moment, so I’m not entirely surprised that WordPress is also having issues. Hopefully they can be sorted soon.

Hi there,
Not sure I know how to add screenshots to posts. If someone could tell me, that would be useful, please.
To share a screenshot with us, you can upload it to the Media Library on your site, and then copy the image URL. You can see a video of how to do this here: https://d.pr/v/Fcnerp
Once you have the image URL just paste it into your reply and we will be able to see your screenshot.
Using the Classic editor, I see the screenshot below when I paste the same words into it.
To clarify, you copied the block of text above (the one entered as blocks) and copied/pasted it into the classic block somehow? I can see some errors in the source code for those invalid blocks that appears to be from a copy/paste operation.
If you can walk us through how you created those, it would give us a better understanding of why you are getting the invalid block message.
Thanks for the additional info!
I’ve inserted screenshots to try and explain myself in the post.
This works too, and we can see your post (and the contents within) just fine.
Out of curiosity, did you copy/paste the second set of
