Test Color Context Menu GONE…Why?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m sorry, I’m all for making changes to WordPress for the betterment and ease of use of it all but why would you remove an option that was not needing to be changed?

I use different HEX number colors for the text I add to my posts and now I have no option of customizing my website! I mean, its one thing that we cannot edit the HTML of our blogs but now we can’t specify certain HEX numbers as text coloring of our choosing? Why the hell would you take that option away? Was this option removed as an error?

Please bring back the text color context fly out menu!!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is a change in the TinyMCE editor that was just implemented. You can update the hex color code in your text editor once you have changed the color to one of the standard options.

I’ll look into whether or not the “more colors” option can be returned to the colors box, and let you know.

I no longer have the option of the drop down menu with a More Colors option where I could select a customized color.
    It’s gone.

@phillanoue, this is a known issue. Please see my previous response.

It looks like the “More colors” option is gone to stay. This change, along with some of the other editor changes, was part of a design and usability overhaul that was discussed at some length by WordPress core developers.

It’s possible we may build in new ways to change text color in the future, but for now, you’ll either need to use the default set of colors or the workaround already mentioned.

You know what, I think that this is pure bullshit! Honeslty, I cannot image how leaving the option to change ao font color would hurt your usability overhaul! I think its just another way you all have made us users have to work around things instead of you just leaving well enough alone! I am so angry right now!!

Honestly, I cannot image how leaving the option to change a font color would hurt your ‘usability overhaul’! I think its just another way you all have made us users have to work around things instead of you just leaving well enough alone! I am so angry right now!!

I’m adding my name to list of bloggers that are floored by this change. I use two colours – neither of which are represented in the minimal palette now on offer – right across my blog which I have been adding to regularly for 3 years. The dark red and golden yellow are intrinsic to the look of my site and to have to go into the HTML pane and copy and paste the hex colour code every time I want to apply one of those colours doesn’t seem like an improvement. Is there any reason not to bring back the ‘More Colours’ option? Surely, it can’t have been hampering usage for others.
