Testing and Experimenting on a WordPress.com site
-
Hi,
I’m making changes to a non-profit organization’s wordpress.com website. Is there a way to save a snapshot of the current state of the website or create a testing environment, so that I can freely experiment and remove widgets, texts, etc without causing any permanent changes until it’s approved?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t believe there is a way to “freeze” a WordPress.com site.
The only solution I can think of is to create a second, perhaps private, site and clone the content via the export/import tools. However if the original site is using Premium features those will not be cloned, and the only way to replicate them would be to upgrade the “testing site”. -
Thank you so much for your response, alichani.
Would you recommend any cloning tools? This is a WordPress.com site, so unfortunately I cannot install any plugins.

If you go to “My Site” -> “Settings” and scroll to the bottom to the “Site Tools” section, you can use the built in Exporter and Importer.
Just keep in mind that these tools will not “move” the media (images/PDFs etc.) but they will be referenced by their current URLs, so they should still be available.
