Testing domain: Blogger to WordPress migration

  Hello,
  I’m gonna migrate my blogger blog to WP. I’ve just spent 5 hours on google trying to find answers but I haven’t. If anybody can help me with these, it would be amazing! I have my current domain on http://www.katkacestuje.cz (not on blogspot).

  1) when I buy Bluehost hosting and signup with my existing domain – is it gonna affect my current blog with this domain or it’s gonna stay till I change DNS settings?

  2) I want to prepare new design, import blog post and redirect them, make all changes on some testing platform (domain?) which isn’t gonna be seen by any readers and redirect my current domain when it’s everything nice and tidy (that can last a week) – so my readers will stay on my current blog during this prepartion. How I should do this? Can I create some subdomain? I don’t want anything affect my current blog till is migration complete.
