Text background with twenty twelve theme-auto changes from default white to grey
-
I am trying to change the background of my two blogs (twenty twelve theme), but when I change the outside border to a dark colour the text background automatically changes to a grey (it starts as white behind the text with the default grey outside border). I am trying to create a child theme & then attempt to modify this as I simply want a dark background with white behind the text. I am not sure how to do this, I have read topics on this and I know I’m supposed to create new folders, but I’m not sure where…

What do you exactly mean by ‘text background’ ?
Currently I see the exact colours you’ve set up at https://magicbluepill.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php#colors
Note that you can also follow the steps in this guide on how to edit the CSS code in order to change the appearance of your blog:

I mean the background that is in the middle of the page, behind all the text in the blog. I cannot choose this colour. It started off as white inside with a grey border (default) and then as soon as you change the border to a darker colour, the inside (behind the text) automatically changes from white to grey. I have taken screen shots, all I did was change the outside but you can see the automatic change in the text area by looking at the white picture.
