Text block – new line and new paragraphs
-
I am trying to upload a poem to a text block, but it seems to interpret each new line as a new paragraph, which means the format of the poem is wrong, too spaced out. How do I get a carriage return/new line into a text block without a new paragraph, I want a new paragraph to be a new verse. Or, if this isn’t possible, how to space the paragraphs so closely together that that look like the same text block? Thank you.

Hi there,
For poetry, or to preserve your word, line and paragraph spacing exactly as you type it, you can use the verse block instead:
To add a line break in a paragraph block, press Shift-Enter. Just pressing Enter in a paragraph block will always create a new paragraph.

Ah. Thank you!!
So easy when you know how.
Is there any way to get rid of the backgroud shading on the verse block do you know?
Thanks!

You wouldn’t be able to change the styling of that block but if it bothers you, there’s also a way to create a new line in the Paragraph Block without additional spaces. For that, instead of pressing
Enter, as you would usually do to add a new line, you’d hitShift+Enter. -
