Text changed to vertical alignment
-
One of my pages which I use as a Homepage, suddenly changed text alignment to vertical when I try to edit the page, and the header image and other images have disappeared. All other pages are fine in editor, and the Homepage looks fine on the website. When I try to edit the page, the screen appears intact for a split second and then switches to the vertical layout. How do I get my old page with horizontal layout and my images back?

Hi there! I’ll send an email response to your WordPress.com account with a follow-up to this issue.

Good Morning –
No problem. We will continue helping. Can you tell me the post title or send a link to the URL where this message appears? -

It looks like my colleagues last reply didn’t come through for you. I have copied and pasted it for you below:
This is quite odd indeed! You have your homepage content “nested” inside a combination of other Columns and Group blocks, which doesn’t seem necessary. Here is what I’m seeing when I open the List View to see what’s on the page.Screenshot direct link: https://cln.sh/v34pFfWq
To illustrate what I mean, I created a copy of your homepage (with the suffix of “Test”) and saved it as a Draft on your site.
On that page, I moved all the content “out” of the nested blocks and it appears properly. Here is a video showing what I did: https://cln.sh/JZtZvcn0
You can access that new page in the drafts folder here: https://wordpress.com/page/julchenknits.com/2142
You can publish that new page and use that as your homepage instead if you like. Once you publish the page, just go to the Reading settings under Settings > Reading to update the homepage to that new version (and then unpublish the old one or trash it): https://wordpress.com/settings/reading/julchenknits.com
I’m not sure what might have caused this, but it could be that some updates to one or more of the blocks that you have on the page inadvertently caused this conflict to arise because of how your page was originally built.
Let us know if you have questions on this or need help with anything else! -
@anjasammonyahoocom I am looking at the Welcome page here: https://wordpress.com/pages/julchenknits.com

Do you see the issue with the text alignment in those screenshots? If you are seeing something different then this, please take a screenshot to share it with me.
This work is beautiful, and I want to compliment you on your artistry! Do you plan to sell any of these products directly through your site? -
Hi @staff-zinnia!
Thank you so much for your help, you really are amazing! To be honest, I am a bit of a computer-phobe, so I find all things Internet tricky. Thank you so very much for your help! I will spend this afternoon ;) to look at it and – yes, absolutely! I love your draft and will use it. This is quite embarrassing, why did I do this? Because I don’t have a clue I suppose… and thanks for your kind words regarding my knitting. I work as a full-time teacher, so I use it as “brain gymnastics” :) but I do sell my patterns on a few sites. I linked my WordPress pages to those because – again – I have no idea how to sell through the website. You are such a great help, keep doing what you’re doing! The weather is awfully dark and stormy here in Ireland but the sun has suddenly come out with your amazing email! Thank youuu!

We should never be embarrassed about trying to learn something new! It might be helpful to remember that everyone who works here also started at the very beginning. You’ll get there, and we are here to help.
Once you have things configured and are ready to move on, write back to me here, and we can discuss the different options for selling those patterns directly on your website. This is going to make management more accessible and more efficient since everything is going to be in one space. It’s not a bridge you need to cross today :)
