Text Color
-
Good Afternoon/Evening/Morning WordPress users. I had a question about the text colors. I decided to play around with this option in an upcoming post of mine and I was just wondering if it takes up extra space. I know that the actual text doesn’t take up space as it’s just the images, video, and other media that do. I just wanted to make sure that giving my post a lot of different colors for the text wouldn’t take up extra space.
Thanks!

Every WordPress.com blog comes with a free storage space allocation for Media (images, audio, video). That space has nothing to do with fonts.

Giving your posts lots of font color variations and/or font size variations creates an unprofessional appearance that works well for some blogs but does not work well for most.
If you are into fiddling about with font families, sizes and/or colors on each and every post you make by using the Text editor (HTML editor) then you can change it in the body text in posts and pages. But for changing it in Titles and widgets you need to purchase an upgrade.
These are 3 ways to change fonts on WordPress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the Text ie. HTML editor. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support.

I definitely agree that overusing colors and varied fonts can be detrimental for the blog. Because of this, I have never even bothered with them before. I just decided to do something special for my next post since it’s celebrating my site’s 14000th post! It’s a pretty big milestone so I thought that I would go all out and I just wanted to make sure that the color wouldn’t affect the storage space. It’s good to hear that it won’t affect that and I don’t believe that I’ll be needing the upgrade anytime soon.
Thanks for the help!
