Text colour in paragraph & heading block

Hi – I wonder if anyone can help.
The colour option isn’t working in the paragraph & heading block? It just appears as black on a pale yellow highlight in preview and when updated on a published post. If I set the colour from ‘more settings/colour’ it does seem to work but then indents all the text. Which makes the margin too wide & looks weird.
Any pointers appreciated.

The highlighting issue is a bug, as I mentioned in the other thread.
I’ve not seen any mention of indentation like you’ve mentioned here, though. Can you give me a link to a specific post or page on your site where this is visible?

I’m not at the publish stage, as you will see ;) but it indents when I use ‘show more settings’ > colour. I choose text & background colour, the text then indents.

Okay, I see it’s specifically when changing the background color in the block settings. This changes the background color for the entire block, and is something completely different from the highlighting issue, and from the text colour settings in the block toolbar, as in the other thread where you posted – those settings are to change the colour for individual words, not the entire block.
What you’re seeing is intentional – that indentation is added to ensure there’s a space between the edge of the coloured section’s borders, and the text itself. It won’t look good to have the text right up against the edge of the coloured block.
If you don’t want the background of the paragraph to have a colour, select the Clear option under Background colour, rather then selecting a White background colour, and that indent will go away.

Hi – thank you for the update. It seems to be working all OK on drafts. I haven’t risked tinkering with a recently published post which still has highlights on it. As it’s a complex one with a lot of views & I don’t want to mess with that. And no readers have complained. ;D

For any posts/pages that already have the highlights, edit it and make a small change like adding a period or a space, and update, and the editor should roll back the highlights automatically.
