text disappeared on hitting "publish" button.
-
I just tried to publish my first post. I posted a link and wrote a short essay beneath it. When I hit “publish” it just published the link and voomf – all the supporting text I had written was gone. An hour’s work.
I tried going back (browser button) to get the text and save it. Nothing. I tried “previous versions” which were all absent of any of the essay text. All plain gone.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there.Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working.
If and only if the missing post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New see here to recover a lost post or page see here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/03/21/wordpress-recovering-a-lost-blog-post-or-page/

Thanks. Looks like it was created on the second option. So my entire essay on EU science policy is gone.
Many thanks for your very quick reply. But my immediate thought is F this WordPress – maybe I should start my blog elsewhere. I’ll see how I feel in the morning, but that’s pretty ridiculous.

I’m sorry this happened to you. The developers are aware of this terrible issue re: the non functioning auto-save at http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ and it will be fixed in the next upgrade.

It should have been fixed ages ago, in my opinion. Staff have been aware of it literally for months. Removing that button would have been trivial.
You can see the other posts on the issue here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/missing-post and you might prefer using an offline blog editor, as suggested there.
