Text editing

I have a problem with my blog. I cannot get the text to appear the way I want it to look. I think WordPress is very limited. I would prefer to use an editor looking like Microsoft Word or something like that. What I am asking for is a way to make the text look exactly as I want. I would like to be able to chose the size of the text, 12, 14, 16 and so on… I would like it to be possible to chose between Times New Roman and other choises. I would like it to be possible to press enter without getting an empty row. I would like it to be possible to press space 5 times and getting the text to stay there.

Is this possible today? Where/how? It not, why not?

I am using a free blog theme, The morning after.

    Thanks,

    Maggie

WORD is a word processor and if you are copying and pasting from it into a blog editor you must become aware that Microsoft WORD is not web standards compliant. Since Word is meant for print media, it does not speak “web” and the codes used in Word can actually break your blog, so the bulk of it is automatically stripped out.

You will always have to format poetry from within the editor.

Go to Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

If you have been copying and pasting text from elsewhere without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here so you know how to do this correctly in the future. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

You will get double spacing between paragraphs in every theme here of which I’m aware. To get single spacing hold the SHIFT key down when you click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.

These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs. Please mote number (2) below.

    (1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

    (2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

    (3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: Any font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, post titles, page titles, categories and tags cannot be done without CSS editing.

You’re welcome from me.:) One thing I will add is that you may wish to use Windows Live Writer to create posts and pages and publish directly from it to your blog.
