text editor for comments
-
I comment frequently on a number of wordpress blogs. I would like to be able to access text editing as I comment. I know this can be done because some of the comments display sophisticated text editing. I signed up for WordPress to access this feature and I haven’t found it, yet.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there! I’m not sure I understand what type of text editing you’re looking to do. We don’t offer a full editor for our comments, but we do support basic HTML in comments.
If you let me know the specific things you’re trying to format, I can help you with this.

I just want to access the simple features available here in this comment
things like underlining
whatever it is li does

make em betterstronger. I never see, nor can I figure out where the html buttons are hidden on the WordPress blogs where I comment -
The blogs I post in most frequently are What’s Up With That and Notalotofpeopleknowthat
If that helps

We don’t actually include the editing buttons in the comment editor. So you’re not missing anything.
I’ve edited your post since there were some formatting issues that were breaking the stream here. :)
Here’s a quick overview of what the buttons here in the forums do:
- strong – bold
- em – emphasis (italics)
- link – creates a hyperlink
- quote – blockquote
- ul – unordered list (bullets)
- ol – ordered list (numbers)
- li – list item (used inside ul and ol)
- code – preformatted text
A couple of other ones you may want to use would be:
- u – underline
- strike – strikethrough text
- small – makes smaller text
If the site is set to handle markdown in comments, you can also refer to our markdown quick reference here:
Hope this helps!
