Text Enhance
-
Hi,
I just forked over $17 for in order to get rid of the ‘wordpress’ in my blog’s name, and now I’m getting a bunch of links called “text enhance” popping up on random words on my blog.
How do I get rid of ’em?!
Example: http://notesonliberty.com/2012/03/29/two-more-days/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Please post an active link starting with http:// to an example of these “text enhance” links.

I’m sorry if I sounded odd above but I see 3 links in the post yo linked to. If you did not deliberately create those links then I assume you copied and pasted text from somewhere else. if that’s so and you don’t ant the links edit the post and use the broken link icon to remove them, then click “update”.
-
Wait wait!
You only see the three links? K, then maybe it’s just my computer. Uh-oh!
Thank you!
-
These are the only links I see in the post titled: Two More Days!

Were you logged in or out when you saw those links? If you were logged out, perhaps they are part of the ads WP.com adds to our blogs to pay for our hosting.
-
I tried it logged in and out. I saw them both times. I had never seen ads on WP until today.

WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.
If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it and send it to Staff by emailing support@wordpress.com or upload it into your Media Library and contact Staff and let them know it’s there for them to view.

I’m not sure if this is the same issue I had but…
http://support.text-enhance.com/entries/20352211-disabling-text-enhance-links
It says you can opt out.I’m not sure how it started on my pc though.
I also found it funny when one last text-enhance ad popped up on the
captcha to opt out.… I didn’t follow this bit though.
“Our opt-out service is cookie based. This means that if you clear your cookies (or use software to “speed up your computer”, which clears cookies for you), then Text-Enhance links will show up again. To prevent this from happening, you will need to add the domain: textsrv.com to your softwares exclusion list for cookie removal. “
that is their permanent solution.

Thanks! I found the problem after I clicked on the wrench in the upper right corner of my browser (I use Chrome). Then I went to “View Background Pages” and discovered that I had installed something that was causing the add pop-ups (I can’t remember what the name of the program was though. Sorry!)
After that I simply removed the background program and everything became back to normal.
Thanks for all of your help everybody!
