Text focussed pages

  I am looking to create a site that will be primarily filled with text documents. Including numbering and tables. These will be updated on a regular basis. I don’t seem to be able to find a theme orientated to this. Mostly they focus on many pictures with limited text.

  I’ve tried a couple of themes. The Textbook theme seems te best fit, but it cannot manage the paragraph numbering (ie Word Legal style). Also, the pages have a relatively narrow portion to add such text if in blocks, also in quite large fonts

  Is there an alternative theme or some method to customise a page to ‘open’ up more text space?

  Hi there!

  You can use any theme to publish text; the aspect of a page or block post will depend on which blocks you use to create it. There is no limit of space for the text you can add.

  If you could give us an example of what you’re trying to achieve, we may be able to advise better.

  Ideally, I would like to create a page that looks like Wikipedia. Where I can insert contents details and have the respective paragraphs

  How can I
  a) Display text pages to fully utilise the screen so that the text can spread across the full width of the page (ie equal to the heading). Can I create a new theme page and reuse that or insert from another theme
  b) How can I preserve the contents and paragraph numbering?

  We don’t have any themes here that use a full width format in quite the way that wikipedia does. Because Wikipedia is a custom-designed site, they are unique in that regard. To have a similar look you may be able to find a 3rd party theme “designed for WordPress” by searching on Google. That or work with a theme we have that gets you close, such as the “Textbook” theme you mentioned.

  b) How can I preserve the contents and paragraph numbering?

  I’m not sure what you mean by that so it may help to see an example. One thing to be aware of however is that Word is an application for creating printed documents (and not HTML websites) so there are things you can create in formatting your Word docs that is not easily recreated here on WordPress.com.
