Text formatting – Anybody?

  Hello – I am called upon to post poetry in my site – aulapress.com and I am having a bear of a time keeping the formatting correct. I am not pasting and I have tried using Windows Live editor and the editor offered by WordPress. The problem is that the poems are single spaced and and have indentations and lots of spaces (poets are picky about this stuff.) When I post, everything is blocked and double spaced. Any suggestions?

  When you make a line end, instead of just hitting ENTER, hold the Shift bar down and then hit ENTER. This makes it single-spaced.

  Great, thanks. Any advise on the indents and word spacing?

  On the spacing, hold shift and then hit enter or return at the end of a line and it will single space instead of double space in the wordpress rich text editor.

  This doesn’t work with Safari (mac) but DOES work with Firefox (mac). I’m not sure about IE or FF on windows.

  Rain was too fast, but note that it won’t work with Safari.

  My advice about Safari is simply not to use it with WordPress.com. There are just too many issues. And my advice about formatting is that unless you’re good with CSS and want to use a paid upgrade, you have to either essentially forget about controlling it or you have to go elsewhere. Standard blogs at WP.com are not formatting-friendly.
