Text Formatting issues while posting the message in WordPress

Hi All
While posting the messages in wordpress i always find my messages is not been formatted correctly i.e I want some space between each paragraph and also want less gap between each line in the paragraph (line height).
To achieve that I have defined it in CSS, but i dont know how to assign the CSS to post text.
Can anyone help in this regard?

In order to change the CSS for your whole blog, you need to buy the CSS upgrade (Dashboard -> Upgrades). Otherwise you can only change the style of individual HTML elements with the style attribute.

I am having a formatting issue that is driving me batty! :( I don’t know why it happened with my last post, but I was putting part of my text in blue and italiacs and when I saved and went to view, all my other posts have been changed to the same format. I’m having a heck of a time changing all the posts on the page and its also changed the font and color on some of my things in the side bar. Can anyone help me fix this problem? TIA

You probably forgot to close a tag somewhere. Go back to the post and make sure all the html tags are closed.
