Text gone in posts
-
Hi.
I’ve relatively recently come to realise that on a number of my blog posts (about 4 or 5, I believe) all but the title and featured image disappeared.
Is there a particular reason for that to happen or is it just a glitch?
I have since reverted those post to drafts, but I’m unlikely to re-write them, meaning that this has rendered hours of my work useless.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

Hi Vid
Too bad you already took them down. Hard for us to see what is happening to vanishing content if it was taken down. If this happens again, please leave the content up and let us know it happened.Did you by chance try and look at them in a different browser before you took them down? If you did, what was the result?
I will tag this for regular WordPress folks to take a look, since they have mighty powers and can look into this better than us voluntary volunteers can. I hope one of them has a better answer!
best

Hi Dave
Thanks for the reply.
If it happens again, I’ll be sure to leave the post it happens to up.All I can really say about the issue is that the only thing that was gone was the post itself, i.e. the title, featured image and tags were all intact, but the actual text was gone. If that’s anything to go on.
If it might be a copyright thing, I can say that three of the four posts were either animation or comic book related, but I have other posts in the same category that haven’t been affected.
Could it have something to do with a glitch in including a hyperlink to a previous post, maybe, do you know? Thanks again for the reply, hopefully the mighty WordPress people will have more to say.
Best,

Hi Vid –
Can you tell me specifically which posts were affected?
How were these posts created? Are you using the mobile or desktop WordPress App or through a browser? Which browser version? App version? All of these details will be helpful for us to take a closer look. Thanks :)

Hi
The posts that were affected were the reviews for F Is for Family, Punk Rock Jesus, Hellblazer: Pandemonium, and Shooter.
All of them were created on my PC through the Mozilla Firefox browser (as were all my other posts). -

You can use these links below to restore an older version of the posts. They may not be perfect but it is certainly a step up from having nothing. This is done through the classic editor. Click each link and then scroll down to see the post revisions.
These posts are all set to draft mode as well. Was that intentional?
Lastly, the site is using Twenty Fifteen. This theme doesn’t support a featured content section like others. The theme setup options and instructions are available here: https://wordpress.com/themes/twentyfifteen/ Each theme has specific setup instructions. Let me know if you have any questions about this information.

Thank you, but the links did not solve my issue. The text is still missing for me, even in the editor I’m redirected to.
Yes, the posts were set to draft mode intentionally, because it didn’t occur to me to set them to private (an oversight on my part) when I wanted them gone from the site itself, since I felt it negatively impacted the blog to have posts with nothing in them.

Yes, the text is gone from the current version of the post you see. Scroll down a little bit to the ‘Revisions’ From there you can restore an older version of the post.

No problem! It’s probably not going to be perfect, but it will be much better than a blank post.

No issues here.
A few old mistakes to correct and the posts are practically as good as new.
This made my day.
Thanks again! -
