text in italics?
-
all of a sudden all the text on my blog is appearing in italics, except for the post subject title. Even when I go to write a new post, the text appears in italics.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
That’s caused by copying and pasting and specifically by an open italics HTML tag. For every
<em>start italics HTML tag
there must be a close italics HTML tag
</em>You need to edit the post, switch to the Text (HTML) and insert the close italics HTML tag.

See http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/layout-issues/#additional-info
When copying and pasting use icon 5 Paste as Plain Text
or icon 6 Paste from Word as appropriate in Row 2 of the Visual editor.

Thanks, but it is more than just on a new post. All posts, even from the main page, are in italics. So are the links in the sidebar, etc. The last time I posted was on the 9th, and since then it has shown up correctly. This is just all of a sudden this morning. When I go to write a new post, the text I type shows up in italics as well, regardless of whether I click to make it italicized or not.

That’s commonly caused by copying and pasting. Howewer, I don’t see that happening in this blog when I view it http://onemorebabystep.wordpress.com/
Kindly post an active link starting with http:// to the exact blog you are referring to.

Yes, I didn’t do any copying or pasting recently. The exact blog is http://onemorebabystep.wordpress.com/
the most recent post is http://onemorebabystep.wordpress.com/2013/02/09/bye-bye-baby/
You’re not seeing it in italics? I tried looking at the blog on my other ISP and it was italicized there.

I am using Firefox and I have been all over your blog. It’s NOT displaying in italics for me. The display is the normal display I see in the Neat theme.
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If you are not successful let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.

Thank you for your help. I did all of the above and still had a problem, so we restored our computer’s settings to a couple days ago, and that seems to have solved it.

I’m seeing ALL my posts in italics on my laptop, on my partner’s tablet, and on our home computer. Three separate devices are all showing every single post as entirely in italics. This surely can’t be a problem of the machine I posted my last post on…and if it is, that was a public machine at a university campus library over which I have no administrative control. Any ideas?
-
This is happening because you’ve got an unclosed em tag in the post “The Irrevocable”. Edit the post, switch the editor to Text (=code) and add this at the very end:
</em>
To prevent such accidents from happening again, go to Settings > Writing, tick the option “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”, click Save Changes. -
Thanks, I’ve since been informed of this by the author of that post. The problem should be resolved soon.
