Text in MMS sent to post-by-email address always wrapped in HTML tags.

Problem using post-by-email to send pictures with descriptions using MMS. The text is always wrapped in HTML tags, making for some pretty hideous blog posts, especially when sending multiple images that get turned into galleries.

Not sure if this is something that’s being done automatically by my carrier (Virgin Mobile) or if WordPress is adding the tags to text accompanying incoming MMS messages, but the result is so ugly that I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of sending photos to my blog via MMS (which is really the only way for me to do it on my “dumb” phone {Samsung Montage}, installing an app is not an option).

If it IS on the WordPress side, how about adding a settings feature to turn this off? Just a thought.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Do you have a link to an example page/post where this issue is visible? I’m happy to take a closer look.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Took me a while to get access to test properly. here’s a link to a test post, single picture that isn’t visible without having to scroll horizontally to the right, because of unwanted preformatted text…

  • Hi there,

Thanks for reporting that. I have also noticed that you have made several posts using gmail instead of your phone. Those come through fine?

    Thanks for the additional info!
