Can I send text message notifications?

  I want to send message alerts to people via text message. I went to wordpress.org and downloaded the plug-in that would allow people to sign up for text messages and alerts from me, but i dont know how to upload it to my blog so that i can get the widget for people to sign up. What do i do to get the widget on my sidebar?

  We don’t allow plugins on WordPress.com for security reasons. Plugins are a feature only available for self-hosted blogs provided through WordPress.org.

  However, you may be interested in using Publicize to connect your WordPress.com blog to Twitter. That way, anyone following you on Twitter can receive updates via text, if they choose:
