Text Not Formatted Around Images In Posts

  • Unknown's avatar

I apologize if I’m repeating myself or if I’m repeating a topic that has actually been resolved. But the thread I posted in was just marked resolved and I am still experiencing the problem of text in my posts not appearing formatted to wrap to the right of my images as I have chosen. The text is being dumped underneath the image.

Does anyone know if this will ever be resolved or if I can do anything else to fix it?

    Thank you.

Don’t re-post. If you started that thread, you can set it to Not Resolved.

I’m sorry if I didn’t make myself clear. I posted in that other thread but did not start the thread, therefore I cannot reset it to “not resolved”.

I suppose it might have been resolved for the person who started the thread.

I’m fairly aware of forum etiquette and am decent about digging around to try and find answers for things myself before I ever ask questions. But my particular problem which I thought was related to the other thread topic has not been resolved.

Can you or anyone solve the text format problem?

If I’m missing something I should know, please tell me.

    Thanks.

rain answered you in the other thread. It appears your images are too large, not leaving any space for the text to wrap around.

    Hello vivianpaige,

Thanks so much for pointing me in that direction. After I had last posted in that thread and them came back to it, I only saw that is was “resolved” and didn’t see the last comment at the bottom.

I went back to edit my first post and experimented with reducing the image size. I had to set the image to 80% to get the text to show up on the right. It’s obvious to me now that this is not going to look at all the way I thought it would because there is still wasted white space to the right of the text where widgets would show up (if there were any). But it’s just blank, white space. So I suppose I will now just succumb to putting text underneath the images after all and try a center format instead. Sigh…. I was hoping that the text would spill over to that right margin area.

    Thanks again.

Being a photographer, you may want to keep your images as large as possible. One solution beyond reducing their size is to slightly increase their size so they fill the full width of the column and just forget about word wrap. Another might be to try a flexible width skin. There are 9, and they may give you a wider area to display your images and still give you some word wrap if that’s really important to you. Of course, this will be more advantageous to your readers who have wide screen monitors, and you won’t be able to see what each of your readers is seeing.

    MallyMcGinnis,

Thanks for you input. I tried centering, but there is still a large amount of white space to the right.

I tried to increase the size of the image but then it’s cut it off on the right when it’s actually up against widgets. So I will likely just size them the way they were so they won’t be cut off.

Like you, I was looking for a flexible width skin but didn’t like the choices because it looked like they had even more columns to deal with which would not solve my formatting dilemma.

    Oh well.

Try Monotone, but it will ONLY center images; you can only put one image per post, with text underneath. But it has several advantages for photography blogs, one of which is a measure of copying protection.

Thanks raincoaster. I think I’ll just stick with the template I’m using for now. I like it better than Monotone. I’ve taken a look at that one a couple of times but format doesn’t appeal to me.
