    I think we can do this is two steps. First, would you please post the URL you want to be linked to the anchor text “George”? I’m asking because this is what I see when viewing the source code in question:

    <p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">George</span></p>'

    Links look like this:
    '<a href="URL HERE">TEXT_HERE</a>

    Please ignore the backticks ` above. They are not part of the link code but have to be used in order to make code display on the forum.

    No because that’s the link to the title of your post.What I need in order to help you is the link (URL) of the website that you want to link the “word “George” to. :) Then I can help you.

    Ok…..sorry for seeming daft lol, have i got it right now…? (Link below)

    @Sharon
    Do you want the word “George” to appear under the image and not be linked to any external site (not your own site) ?

    I have removed the “private” setting from my test blog temporarily so you can view two examples and choose which one you prefer. Please click the links below let me know which one is your preference and then we can work from there.

    Hiya Timethief :D

    No, I would like the photo of George THEN in the bottom right hand corner (Outside of the photo) his name of George.

    THEN underneath all of that, I would like the text to begin?

    Can you see with this link I have done and uploaded to photobucket please?

    PS thankyou for showing me your links though and temporarily removing the private setting so I could see :D

    To get the alignment you want edit the post on your wordpress.com blog and go into the HTML editor and remove this alignleft from the code and then click “Update”.

    This is what you’re looking for:

    <table>
    <tr>
    <td>IMAGE CODE HERE</td>
    <td valign="bottom" style="padding-bottom:4px;">NAME HERE</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    TEXT HERE

    (In the html post editor.)

    Hi Timethief & panaghiostisadam,

    I did what you said, and it came up under his name as did my writing….as I showed in the link here:

    Ok…..now I am NOT sure what I did, but because Timetheif told me to remove the align left, I inserted Align RIGHT instead….and although I got 2 georges underlined up, but after much fiddling, THEN trying to remember how to underline things (PHEW! :O) I managed it! :D YAY!

    http://sharonharvey2.wordpress.com

    Take a look and see what I mean? :D NOW, what I want to know is 2 things, does it look better this way, OR with my text in the original position (at the side of his photo where George is written,) or like it is , incase the first one doesnt look right…?

    Also, do I have to follow what you put Timetheif whenever I wish to move the writing on the photo….?

    Thankyou, I feel as though I have finally learnt something, though have to remember what i did now LOL!

    G’day Sharon,
    The reason you had to remove alignleft is because you clicked the left alignment button when you uploaded the image into the post. If you wish to create the alignment you have now do not click any of the 3 (left, center, right) text alignment buttons in the visual editor. Because when you do you are telling the editor to:
    position the image on the right hand side and wrap text around it;
    poistion the image in the center;
    position the image on the right and wrap the text around it.

    NOW, what I want to know is 2 things, does it look better this way, OR with my text in the original position (at the side of his photo where George is written,) or like it is , incase the first one doesnt look right…?

    Frankly I prefer left image alignment text wrapping with the caption directly under the image in the caption box, as opposed to what you have going but that’s a purely subjective choice based on aesthetics. You ought to choose the alignment that you like best. :)

    Hi Timetheif :D

    Oh right…ok….so when I next upload a photo….I will put align right for the text…? Am i right? Oh right….so where I see the align text in the html editor, I change it to what ever I want….is that it?

    I appreciate what you said about how you like things to look…I do actually see what you mean, and I am now questioning whether I was right or not…!

    I assume…..if I DID (Sorry I dont know how to bold did so had to capitalise it :( ) decide to have the text BACK at the side of the photo….would I still be able to have the writing of his name at right hand side still – would it look right?

    Thanks and thanks for everything so far :D I am so pleased with what I have achieved so far :D

    The problem all stems from your choice to not use an image caption box and to want the placement of the text “George” at the side of the image. When you click either the left align text icon or the right align text icon you get what you do not want. That “George” is not at the side of the image. It’s at the top because that’s where the text alignment icons are being told to put “Gorge” and that’s where they put it.

    The easiest solution for you if you want the look you showed me in this image http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a55/SharonHarvey2/George%20Peppard /MyarticleandphotoonGeorge.jpg which is identical to what’s now displaying in the blog post then do not click any alignment buttons at all.

    As for my own opinions on the choice I would make I have deleted the examples I made for you on my test blog, and would rather not influence your decision making. It’s your blog and it’s you who must be pleased with what you see. :)

    Ok I am doing 2 versions here…..to see which I like, one is as a draft only at the minute.

    The draft one I am wanting George at the side of the photo at the right, which I have achieved…..but how do I get the writing to go to the TOP of Georges photo to start there….as it was initially please?

    Thanks :D

  • Unknown's avatar

    Or should I say how do I get the writing to the top AGAIN lol! :P

  • Unknown's avatar

    Or is this the best I am going to get?

    http://sharonharvey2.wordpress.com/

    the test one I have entitled, but I did try to put George next to my writing but then it seemed to unsettle everthing else, and I could not fix it :( Is it fixable to do what I want should I want it?

    I appreciate what you say on its me I have to please….I just sometimes like outside opinions, not to necessarily….influence me as you say, but they can make me think ‘Now that IS a good idea, I like it MUCH better than mine….OR Mmmm nah like mine much more! :D

  • Unknown's avatar

    As for my opinion, I provided the code for placing the name next to the bottom corner of the image because that’s what you wanted, but that isolated word there doesn’t look neat. I agree with timethief: using the WP caption feature is better.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Thankyou! :D

    PS you mean ‘George’ on the proper version…? I have done a tester version also here:

    http://sharonharvey2.wordpress.com/

    I guess that looks nicer – though not sure about the white bit round his photo…..The huge gap next to his photo could look messy too, so would it be possible if i wanted to too put another photo of him there?

    :D xxxx
