    By the Way, just out of curiosity…the main heading ie An Amazing man and actor, how can I underline that please?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Also I have put an ‘Author’ widget on my page…but put the name I want Sharon Harvey…however when I visit my site there is my photo and Sharon next to it, but Harvey underneath…..how can I get them both at the side of my photo please?

    a) The natural place for “George” is below the photo; and it can be styled any way you wish (bold, italics, larger, colored, whatever). b) If you don’t like “the white bit” that encloses photo and caption together, does that mean you’d like a different color or no frame at all? If you make up your mind about these two, I can give you the code you’ll need to paste into the post editor.

    “An Amazing man and actor” is the title of the post: you cannot underline that.

    Your Author widget is ok. Perhaps you’ve zoomed in too much in your browser.

    FWIW, the code I also provided would’ve worked with just a minor tweak to the code.

    @Sharon: devblog’s original suggestion is also fully customizable – and devblog is a lot more experienced than me!

    Thanks guys :D ONe last thing though – I have gone to edit a posting….and have noticed that my visual and HTML thing has gone from the top of my text box……why?

    Try going to Users —> Personal Settings —> untick “Disable the visual editor when writing” —> scroll down and save changes.

    You need this in the html editor:

    <table border="0">
    <tr><td>
    IMAGE1 CODE HERE
    </td><td>
    IMAGE2 CODE HERE
    </td></tr>
    </table>
    TEXT HERE

    When you give us the link to the published post, we can tell you if further adjustments are necessary.

    Hi, one more question, I want my posts to remain private, or not for the public eye till they are completed?

    I have set this…but it keeps changing back to privately published and edit wont appear…any idea please?

  • Unknown's avatar

    All posts we create remain in “draft” unless or until we click “publish” rather than clicking “update draft”. When we are ready to we select either public or private and click “publish”.

    The Visibility area of the Publish module is used to set who can read the post. Private – Posts are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private posts are not visible in Blog Surfer, feeds, or in any search. A post can be private without being password protected. See the settings here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/

    Ok i am stuck….on my screen doing the article, my photos look great – AS they are, but I have been told the white frame suits them with the caption below….so this I do, and again on my screen doing the article it looks perfect BUT when I go to preview on my site, it shows like the below, where there is some awful white bits :( :( and I dont know how to get rid, as like I said when I am doing the article, on the screen the photos look superb, so why do they look so different on the site :(

    PS timethief, checked out your html thing for images, blimey, I am more confused than ever now!

  • Unknown's avatar

    @sharon:

    a) The photos “look so different on the site” because the post editor is designed to work regardless of the theme you’re using: it doesn’t take the width of the theme you’re using into account.

    b) You must get used to the effects of image alignment: when you set the alignment of an image to left or right, the content following the image is supposed to wrap around (fill in the space by the image instead of strting below the image). The “white bit” you’re getting is due to wrong alignment: you’ve set the white-shirt image to align right, so the black-suit image is trying to squeeze itself into the space left by the other image.

    To get the two images side by side (if that’s what you’re trying to do), you need to set the alignment of the first one to left. To change the alignment of the images, click on them (in the post editor) then click the mountain icon that shows up.

    PS You’ll need to downsize them a bit as well, as the two of them together are wider than your post column.

    I just responded to this in the other thread on the same subject.
