Text widget as header (embed soundcloud player/youtube video)?

    Hello!
    I’m new to CSS, and have yet to upgrade, because I wanted to find out if (or how) it’s possible to do what I’m envisioning first on http://annemariesanderson.com/

    At the top of my pages I’d like to have a soundcloud player and/or a youtube video embedded (at the moment I’ve just made a static landing page as a substitute, but ideally I’d like the media to be up top on a fixed header, and the blog to be available for browsing simultaneously). From what I’ve read so far, that could be done with a text widget, but as far as I’ve been able to find out so far, the only theme available that has a header widget space is Clean Home. Do I have to use that theme to put my embedded media at the top of my page? Or is there a way to put widget space there on different themes? Or should I be thinking about doing it in a completely different way?
