Text Widget help
-
I’m new to this — found forum & FAQ help on adding an image to the sidebar. However, after clicking “Design” and “Widgets” and then scrolling down to “add” a Text Widget, I expected a pop-up window where I could paste the code that holds the image I already uploaded. Instead, I scrolled up to find a new “blue bar” that read “Text” and had an “edit” button next to it. No problem — I’ll just click “edit.” Sure– I clicked “edit,” still did not get a pop-up window for the Text Widget, and then the “blue bar” that read “Text” disappeared. Hmm. Then, above where the “blue bar” had been, “Sidebar” appeared next to a drop-down arrow, and a button “Show” was next to it. I clicked “Show” and nothing happened again.
So how do I get the Text Widget box to open so that I can actually ADD a Text Widget? (Namely, place the code where the uploaded image resides [now I’ll have to find THAT again!] so that the image will appear in the sidebar….) -
Well, it should be as you did – click the edit next to your new widget and a window should drop down.
If it doesn’t, refresh, try another browser etc. -
Try adding the widget to the sidebar, and then click on the “save changes” button at the bottom of the sidebar panel before trying to edit and add to the text widget.
-
Make sure after adding the stuff to the widget to click the “change” button on the widget pop up, and then again click the “save changes” button.

Thank you for all of your responses.
Clicking the “Save Changes” button before I’ve actually changed something was counter-intuitive, but doing that kept the “blue bar” Text widget from disappearing, and then I could click “Edit” to open the box. -
“I’m glad that worked. This is caused by an oddity in IE where you have to save changes before editing certain widgets. We are aware of it and we’re looking out for fixes.”
