Text widget ignores last part of url

    I am using a text widget to add a link to the sidebar. It all looks OK on the site but when the link is clicked it goes to the domain and not to the actual page I want eg

    link is http://www.there.com/subfolder/

    but when clicked it goes to http://www.there.com.

    There is nothing wrong with the page it leads to – I can load it independently.

    any ideas?
