Text widget – Library Thing not working
-
I apologize if this is a redundant or “stupid” question, but I’m very frustrated with the text widget – mainly because I don’t understand how to use it properly.
I’ve been on a few different blogs (maybe not necessarily wordpress blogs) and seen fun widgets that they have embedded in their sidebars. I generally go to the website they used to get the widget, make my own, then try to no avail to add it to my wordpress blog.
In this instance it is a widget from Library Thing (www.librarything.com). I used the exact embed HTML that they provided, and it doesn’t work. It only shows as a link (you can see it on my blog as is right now).
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need different coding?
Oh, and I have the exact HTML Library Thing provided me if you need to see it.
Thanks in advance. Sorry if this was long-winded.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Javascript and flash are not allowed here at wordpress.COM due to security concerns, and much of the widget code out there is one of those two.
You need plain HTML for it to work here. The javascript and flash will work with self-hosted wordpress blogs, but not here at the wordpress.COM free blogging service.

Ah, I see. Thank you for your response.
Hmmm…I’m starting to second guess having a wordpress blog then, since it seems that most other free blogging websites allow java and flash embedded widgets. Maybe I’m wrong?
Still, I’m kind of bummed that I can’t add cool widgets from other sites.

Does anyone have any suggestions of some cool widgets with plain HTML that can be added to WordPress?
