Text Widget will not “stick” on sidebar – Freshy Theme

    I’ve tried on several occasions to add the text widget to my sidebar in the freshy theme. I drag it, click save, add the title and content I want, click save again, and close. When I go to preview my blog the text widget does not show up nor is it in the sidebar when I get back to the widget section – it’s like I start from scratch every time again.

    My ultimate goal is to place a polldaddy poll on the side bar, but no text in the widget works at all.

    I’ve tested this exact poll and other text on another blog and it worked fine, so I’m wondering if it is related to the theme?

    I’ve searched the forums extensively and have not seen a topic with this specific issue (have tried all other options offered from issues related to the text widget in the forums though). Thanks in advance!

    Hello there,
    This could be a problem with the size of the polldaddy poll your are placing in the text widget. The width of the sidebar in Freshy is 206 pixels. Is the polldaddy widget wider than that?

    If not then which browser and version of it are you using?
    Have you tried force clearing your browser?

    Hi timethief, thanks for the quick response!

    Information I thought about and forgot to include in my original post :)

    I’ve tried this in both IE8 and Google Chrome. I had your original thought as well with the width of the sidebar so just tried putting in “test text” and no shortcode for the poll – that did not work either. FTR, I did go check and the poll is set to “Narrow” at 150 pixels.

    I’ve done some force refreshes as well, nothing seems to allow the text widget to work.

    Try your luck with this: while on the Widgets screen, click Screen Options, then click “Enable accessibility mode”. It will give you a generally more foolproof “Add” button next to each widget title.
