text widget won’t take photo or url
-
I tried hard to add a photo to a Text widget in the sidebar. Did read FAQs, read lovely feature about it, watched video. Still won’t work. Photo doesn’t show, neither does the http://… of another link show that I tried to add below. Could this be a Mac thing? jul
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Nope, not a Mac thing. I do it all the time.
If you can, paste the code you are using here in the forum between backticks ( ` ). It is on the same key as the ~ .

hi,
I used ( ‘http://julicainbondi.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/cover-hoch-gut1.jpg’) and put <img src= in front of it then > at the end as it was shown in the video. (so altogether it came out as <img src=http://julicainbondi.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/cover-hoch-gut1.jpg>does that make sense?

this image does not exist: http://julicainbondi.wordpress.com/files/2008/10/cover-hoch-gut1.jpg Did you delete it?
-
ah. well not really. if you look under http://julicainbondi.wordpress.com/ein-jahr-in-australien/julica-jungehulsing/ you can see it in the middle. I copied it out of my media library . hm? mystery?

This is the HTML for an image (not linked)
<img src="URL_of_image" alt="" />If you are not familiar with HTML, then my suggestion is to use the visual editor. Open a new post, do the image upload and set the image size (for a sidebar, it should be thumbnail) and the other options (alignment, if you want it to link to the full-sized image) and then click “insert into post.”
After that, switch to the HTML tab in the editor, copy out all the code in that page, and then paste it into the text widget.
-
OK, use this code:
<img class="alignnone" title="cover hoch cut gut" src="http://julicainbondi.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/cover-hoch-cut-gut2.jpg" alt="" width="150" />
I set the image size to a width of 150 so that it would fit in the sidebar. If it is a little too narrow, you can change the 150 or 180 or 200. Don’t exceed the width of the sidebar area since that can cause your blog to go wacky. -
thanks sacredpath! I try this now (will keep you posted ;-)
would you by any chance have a similarly good idea about how to place a link in a text widget … ? -
If you want a word or phrase to act as the link, use the following code:
<a href="URL">Link text</a>Replace URL with the URL you want the text linked to.
