text widgets not showing up
-
OK, I have read the FAQ on widgets & watched the video but… my problem wasn’t addressed. I am just learning about how to use them, and I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I have added some text widgets and they have shown up in my side bar. Great. But the latest text widgets I am adding are not showing up… not in my side bar, not anywhere on my site. And I am not over the maximum allowed. Why would some show up and not others? I must be following the process correctly if I got some to show up. I am saving changes and all that….
Thanks for any help/advice!

When you return to the widgets page, are the text widgets that aren’t showing on the site showing up there?
If they are then the first thing to do is clear out your brower’s cache and cookies and view the site again (just to make sure you’re not seeing an old version of the site). Otherwise it’s a backend problem and you’ll need to contact staff directly.
If the text widgets aren’t appearing on the widgets page, then the problem is most likely to be with not saving. Make sure that you click ‘Change’ in the widget and then ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom of the page and also make sure that you wait until that has taken effect before leaving the page.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, they’re showing on the widget page. I’ll see if I can figure out how to clear the cache. But wouldn’t it be the same thing to just logging out and re-log in? I mean I shut down last night after this problem happened and I re-logged in this morning and the widgets are not showing up still on the site. They’re still on the widgets page though. Are there only certain kinds of text widgets that work, that I somehow need to be aware of?

@chandij: I looked at the source code of your page, and at the moment I can see only one text widget that doesn’t work, the link to “mimiwrites”. And for good reason: its text includes a link to that blog, and part of the code for an image, but no URL for any image. My guess is that you pasted code that included javascript: such codes always get stripped out for security reasons, leaving you with useless relics of the original code.
We’ll be able to sort this out completely if you paste here the texts you’re trying to put in the widgets that don’t show up.

Hello – I use digg 3. The problem with the “text” widget bar is that pressing the “edit” button causes the blue bar to disappear. clustrmaps say it is a designer problem, but I have not had a response, yet, from the designer. Is there some way I can load clustrmaps?

No problem :)
Consider linking your name to your blog, so you won’t have to type out your URL every single time. Go to Dashboard -> Users -> Your profile and fill out the “website” box :)
