text won’t show up on a static page

  I need to figure out how to get my text block to show up on a static page. I’ve read a lot about plug ins but I haven’t manually added anything and don’t even know how to do that. The text shows up in editor, but when I view the site it just shows the background color as a small rectangle and no text in it. Help please!!!
