Text wrap around
-
K, another question:
In my “about” page, I can edit it so that the text is on the right side of my image, not below it. However, when I save and update, the text appears on the bottom. Change the image size doesn’t solve this. Any have an idea? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To edit the images size by cropping it see https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/editing-an-image/

Alignment
Align Left https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment
Align Center https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment
Align Right https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignmentAlign-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.
Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.
Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).
If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance.
To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the Text (HTML) editor after each image/text pair:
<div style=”clear:both;”></div>

I’m not sure this answers my question, or I’m not understanding the solution. I have aligned my image to the left and my text automatically moved next to it on the right (in visual editor). When I preview it, though, the text is at the bottom.

Hi @dalekulik
What @timethief is suggesting is that there isn’t enough space for the text to be placed on the right-side of the image. @timethief, I hope I understood this correctly suggests that you use the code:
<div style="clear:both;"></div>
insert this code around your text and image, meaning it goes between “><“. Hope this makes sense. Here are a couple of useful links with information on HTML and the HTML editor.

Thank you for the clarification, but it still doesn’t seem to work. I’ve tried applying the code around the image and text, and I’ve also tried just applying it around the text; neither work.
Is it possible my theme doesn’t allow for text wrap around? If so, is there a way to alter it so it does? -
Have you consulted the relevant theme description page at https://wordpress.com/theme/altofocus?

I thought you were referring to images within posts or pages
https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/#add%C2%A0single%C2%A0media-items-uploading-images-video-and-audio
https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/editing-an-image/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/editing-an-image/#cropping-an-imageThe Altofocus theme has featured images. Are you referring to them?
You’ll immediately notice AltoFocus’ prominent featured images: on single posts, they’re placed above your post’s title and content. After you select a featured image, it will be displayed at a maximum of 1200px wide or 900px tall, images of any orientation style will fit into the layout.

I’m tagging this thread for Staff intervention so dalekulik gets the answer she needs more quickly as this thread is getting long and complicated.

You do not wrap that code around the image/text. You place it after the paragraph of text in which the image appears. But that is irrelevant here.
I assume you’re speaking of your post at https://poetryincolorblog.wordpress.com/2018/04/09/emily-dickinson/?
If I view that post, the image you have is almost the full width of the post content area, so there’s no space for text next to the image. If you make the image narrower the text should wrap around it, as then there will be space for that.
And just in case this is the next question, no the white space to the right of the image as it is now does not count, as that forms part of the post meta sidebar where your theme shows information about the post. It is not used to display any content from the post itself at all.
