Textbook Theme doesn't look like the demo?

I chose Textbook theme because I like how it looks in the theme’s presentation page. Specifically how the blog posts are in a color font (orange, blue, red) with date, photo and text preview on a dark background.

However, I cannot find any color settings to actually make the theme look like the demo??

Not only that, but the blog post previews are like flip cards, showing title only until you hover over it, then it reveals a blurb. That’s not at all how the demo image appears?

What am I missing? How do I make the it display the way it does in the cover photo for the theme’s demo page?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Above description points out an area on the demo page as a Featured Content section of the textbook theme.

It says this theme supports up to 4 featured content area. To setup featured content area, go through a featured content section in the Overview Tab. The link is here.https://wordpress.com/theme/textbook

I saw the blog post preview area on the home page. The demo shows the title, background image(if set) and category. When you hover on the blog preview area, it flips and shows date and description.
