Textbook Theme – featured page content not displaying

Hello! Love the theme. Thanks for designing/developing it.

My blog is set to private, but I recorded 14seconds of video to show what I’m trying to describe below.

I created a page called “Random Fun” and set that as my Featured Page. The page displays the content when I view it as a single page, but it doesn’t display the content on the front of the blog in the Featured area.

The page content is a simple ‘display-posts’ shortcode that displays posts in category ‘random’ I tried using ‘wrapper=ol’ and ‘wrapper=div’ arguments and neither work. If I don’t use the wrapper argument, the single page also goes blank as well as nothing showing up on the front page. If I add plain text, it does show up. I tried adding it after the ‘display-posts’ shortcode and the content in the shortcode was not displayed, but the plain text was.

Am I doing something wrong or is the way the featured page included on the front page somehow interfering?

    Thanks in advance!
    Bethany

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for the screencast.

No, you aren’t doing anything wrong. The theme is intentionally designed to show basic text in that area. It won’t use any sort of formatting, links, shortcodes, etc.

However, I was able to get the display posts shortcode to work in the Featured Content Description area. You’ll find that under Customize > Theme Options.

    Thank you!
I tried what you said and it worked. But, that pushes the Featured page down. Visually it seems more appealing when it overlaps the header.

On the bright side, at least I know I have other options! It didn’t occur to me that I could add shortcode there, so thanks very much for that info.

    Have a great day.
