TextBook theme – How to add posts as dropdowns under main menu options?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,
I have created 5 options under the main menu – About, Poetry, Travel, Thoughts, Food & Experiences. I have posts in my blog on each of these categories. I would like to add these posts as links under each of these menu items, as a dropdown. How do I do it? I spent a lot of time but still could not figure it out. Please help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Posts may be added to your custom menu as described in the Add menu items section of the Custom Menus support page. Choose them from the Posts type on the right side of the Add Items module. Arrange the posts under the top-level menu items as described in the Organize your menu section of the Custom Menus support page.

However, before taking the steps I’ve outline above, you might want to consider changing your top-level menu items from links to static pages to links to category pages. See the Category Pages support page. A category page is a dynamic page that will automatically display each post that has that category has assigned to it. Static pages will not display posts automatically in this manner.

So, for example, if you link the top-level menu item titled “Poetry” to the corresponding category page, which is https://thewindytondiaries.wordpress.com/category/poetry/, then the visitor will be able to see a list of all posts in the category by clicking on the top-level item in the menu, in addition to the drop-down sub-menu of posts which you may construct.
