Text”Preview” in the Category
-
Some Themes show, when selecting a Category on the sidebar, a Text-Preview of the Posts within this Category. (its basically the ‘Archive’-Page of the Category, showing some text of its posts with a ‘read more’).
My theme doesnt show them ( nor is there any call of class snap_preview, which seems to achieve that).
Is it somehow possible, to get some text previewed on the ‘archive page’ ?
I checked the latest sandbox theme, and maybe would consider to switch to this one, but neither there is this call/preview-text feature…
How would it work to add it there ?tia
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can try switching to the HTML tab, copying everything in the window, and then paste it into the “excerpt” module. If it works with the test post, edit every post in your blog and paste everything into the excerpt module.

Sorry, I’ve misread your post entirely.
Go to appearance > extras and make sure that “mshots” is enabled.

thanks for reply. no, you didnt misread the post. (The “mshots” are enabled”), and the excerpts aren’t displayed in my theme either.
a sample page, where i would wish to have a text preview of each post:
http://scrafen.wordpress.com/category/french-student-murders/publishings/it looks, with other themes, as the class SNAP_PREVIEW displays it. but this is not called in mine.
I would go to the latest Sandbox Theme, but neither there is this preview (by default).
Would anyone know, how I can add it with the Sandbox ?

sorry, i checked again, dont know why i didnt see it last night.
The Sandbox Themes actually do display the text-preview (“entry-content”).
In the parent category its the ‘excerpt’, in the child-category its text up to the <more>-tag it seems.if there is any chance, to have the text-preview for OCEAN MIST theme “switched on”, please let me know.

Here is a list of themes which show full posts in category, tag, and archives as well as themes which display titles only:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/full-posts-in-archive-pages/
under the 4th column are ‘all the rest’ which display full posts. You can use the ‘read more’ tag to make your articles display shorter. And a few themes let you customize what you display, including pictures and formatting:

thanks. the ‘ocean-mist-theme’ is within none of them.
it seems, there is no chance, to get some preview with any change on the css this theme.i dont know, how this tech-stuff works, but i thought all themes are based on the ‘sandbox’-ones, where this preview-functionality (in whatever extend) is included by default. so, the theme-author of ‘ocean mist’ must have removed this functions?
otherwise, i thought, it should be possible to ‘activate’ it in the css…?

CSS does not activate non-existing theme elements, it only styles existing theme elements. The preview functionality and any other theme element are determined by the theme files, written in php. Which elements that are included or not in the php files and how the elements work is entirely up to the designer. CSS will not add more functionality to a blog, you can only style the existing functionality.
