The $18 per year domain name

Hi, I was setting up my new blog and I wanted to buy my web name for $18 per year and for some reason it wouldn’t let me. I do not like the way it appears and it’s currently free. Can you please tell me how I can make my web address be .com they way I intended for it to be please?

If you want to purchase your own domain then in order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it! I guess the reason I’m confused is because when I was in the Set Up process I chose to .com for $18 per year instead of using the free .wordpress.com option. However, I moved away from the set up process for a moment and came back to finish and this is what it came up with almost as if it did it by itself. I don’t want people to have to type in http://www.itsallhisanywaysdotcom.wordpress.com. I think that’s a bit ridiculous. I feel like I did something wrong in the set up process as it never asked me for my credit card info or anything? Is this fixable so that people don’t have to enter with that long web address?

Thanks for posting the URL. There is no domain mapping upgrade for itsallhisanyways.com. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping using the instructions I posted above. Please be patient while waiting for Staff assistance.

Something must have gone wrong during your signup. The domain is still available for registration. You can go to Store > Domains on your blog’s dashboard and follow the steps there.
