The address metma-de.wordpress.com cannot be registered. – how can we fix this?

Hi,
Hope you’re well. We use siteground.com and own the domain metma-de.com but we can’t connect it successfully with WordPress.
We previously had WordPress account assigned with the same domain ( metma-de.com) that we now deleted and we don’t know what to do.
The error I get is:
metma-de.wordpress.com doesn’t exist
The address metma-de.wordpress.com cannot be registered. Site names can only contain lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers. But you can sign up and choose another one.
Can you please advise me what to do?WP.com: Unknown

You don’t need a site on the wordpress.com as you have a domain and hosting at Siteground. I see you have a wordpress.org site running on your https://metma-de.com/

Hi there,
Free WordPress.com URLs cannot contain hyphens, as explained in the error message you quoted above. So you can register metmade.wordpress.com, but not metma-de.wordpress.com
But as @staartmees pointed out, if you’re hosted with Siteground, you’re using the open source WordPress.org software.
WordPress.com is a hosting provider, like Siteground, and you only need a WordPress.com address if you want to host your site with us.
