The AUTOSAVE function TOTALLY BLOWS, please GET RID OF IT

This piece of crap programming change is CONSTANTLY hanging up whenever we edit in WordPress mode.
Why are we forced to put up w/ this crappy programming glitch when its only purpose is to try to help people from their own stupidity?
IF PEOPLE ARE TOO STUPID TO SAVE THINGS ON THEIR OWN THEY DESERVE TO LOSE THEIR POSTS.
PLEASE GET RID OF THIS SHIT OR LET US TURN IT OFF SO IT STOPS HANGING UP

Did you ever consider the problem might be on your end? I have no problem with the autosave feature. And there aren’t other people complaining about it.
I assume Windows… Did you check your computer for mal-ware? Try another browser? What trouble shooting have you done before blowing off steam in the forums?

Yes Loomis, things like that can be frustrating. But the people of WordPress are actually doing their best to make things work better for you. You might keep that in mind before screaming at them. Also, if you assume the problem is caused by wordpress, as the people above noted, and it is not, you’re not only going to come off looking like a jerk for yelling, but an even bigger jerk for yelling about something that could be on your end.
Not only will people be more willing to help you if you are polite, but if you are polite, no one will hold it against you if the problem ends up being your own.
You attract more flies with honey than vinegar, as they say.

Yeah, without the anger, I do have to agree that it stinks when I’m typing and the auto-save hangs it up. But, I guess that I could also type it out somewhere else, like Notepad, and then paste it in.
Auto save is a pain regardless…maybe they could make it less often?

As one of those “too stupid to save things on my own,” I use Auto Save and have had no problems with it. In fact, I’m glad that it’s there. But based on some of my own past frustrating posting experiences, I’ll ask what browser you’re using. I used to have all sorts of problems that have melted away since I stopped using IE6 and switched to Firefox.

And to all the people saying “It’s only a problem with you” — thats the standard geek programmer response to EVERY issue that comes up w/ programming
Read the responses — there are some of us smart enough not to need it who notice what happens w/ this piece of crap system
& yes, I already do use an outside editor — but eEVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME I come on this system, that crappy AUTOSAVE is hanging things up on simply posting something or editing something

I sometime use Chrome and it isn’t as smooth as Firefox when it comes to auto-save. If you’re using anything other than Firefox then your frustration is warranted somewhat; however, with above attitude, I doubt if they’d be turning off anything other than your noise.

You know, rather than venting your spleen here in the user-to-user forums where volunteers try to assist other WordPress.COM users, use the effing Support link in your Dashboard and report at least your WordPress.COM related problem directly to the people who run the place.

Ah yes, and it’s the standard non-programmers response that it’s always the programmer’s fault. Nothing could ever be wrong with their computer.
Keep screaming like a 4 year old. And as sulz said, I’m sure blogger or typepad or some other blogging platform will suit your needs.

I’m on a Mac, using Firefox and Safari. Just as an experiment, I kept typing really continuously in the post editor, and the Autosave didn’t even cause a delay in a single fucking letter. Loomisnews is barking (absolutely ridiculously) up the wrong tree.

Autosave is annoying on some systems, and I’ve complained about it myself. But I did so directly to staff and they investigated it for me. Posting irregularly-capitalized rants in the forum has never succeeded in bringing about positive change as far as I’m aware, or I’d have done that myself.

loomisnews: for 5 minutes you have the attention of someone who might be capable of fixing the problem. If you’d like to describe the issue accurately and in detail I’ll look into it. If you want to rant and yell instead, that’s your choice.
Please start with your browser, OS and version numbers, internet connection type and speed, and anything else that you think might be relevant (like, are you using an old firewall/router, censored or unreliable internet connection, old computer, virus scanner, etc). Also an unambiguous description of the problem (what hangs, for how long, does your mouse cursor move, is it an hourglass/beachball or a pointer, is your screen blank, etc).
