The blog cannot be accessed by random people due to server issues.

The blog can’t be accessed by some people, both within and without the organisation. Apparently the server is having problems and subsequently random fails are being experienced by our visitors. I can access it on my machine on different browsers although it won’t show on my phone or iPad. Other people are unable to see it on any device, others can. It seems to be random.

The blog is hosted by WordPress although we have a custom domain name. We are investigating the DNS to see if there’s anything untoward at that end but we need WordPress to check if anything is wrong.

Please help: we are a museum and have published and publicised some important posts for us and are getting feedback from visitors unable to access the posts or the blog itself.

    Many thanks,

    Russell

  • http://blog.wellcomecollection.org/ seems to be working just fine. How long after setting the domain did you first receive reports of the problem?

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors”. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records.
