the categories widget is not working – have tried everything?

can’t get the the categories widget to behave
I have even put it in time out to think about its behaviour – ie deleating it, for a day or two then re – enabling, I’ve changed themes, to see if that helps, but basically, I have it in my side bar, with visibility settings etc but it doesn’t appear on the blog page – it did very briefly last week, but only for a few hours. Help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

? The Categories widget is showing in your sidebar (titled “The filing cabinet:”), and it’s working as expected.

Really? huh? so its just not behavin for its muma? I still can’t see it when I look at the page but I’m gonna take your word for it – Thank you muchly justpi!

You’re welcome.
If you’re not seeing the widget, you’re probably looking at a cached page. Try clearing your browser’s cache, or check your blog in a different browser. -
hmm, thanks, have just tried both of those things to no avail – clearly it just doesn’t want to play ball. I guess as long as other people can see it , thats ok – I’m new to all this and I’m a bit unsure about sticking a whole bunch of stuff on the blog if I’m having simple problems in the early stages… but then its all a bit of a leap of faith!

Hold on! I’m seeing the widget on your category pages but not on your homepage and not on the single post view. This means you messed with the visibility setting of the widget. Go to Appearance > Widgets, open the widget, click Visibility, set the second pulldown to “–Select–” (so that nothing is selected), click Save.
