Hi, have you purchased either the Premium bundle or Domain Mapping upgrade?
-
The error comes while purchasing the Domain MApping upgrade. When we click purchase, wordpress probably does a validation for the CNAME and then the purchase fails with the following message:
DNS CNAME for aedesign.aetndigital.com needs to point to aetndesign.wordpress.com.
I tried to point to another domain and still get the same message:
DNS CNAME for aedesign.aetndigital.com needs to point to aetnd.wordpress.com.
The CNAME was added long before we tried to make the purchase, to ensure that the lookup would work and we also set the TTL to 5 mins so that the propagation was complete. The nslookup clearly shows that the domain is correct but still the purchase is failing:
$ nslookup aedesign.aetndigital.com
Server: 10.1.7.129

Hi @aetndigital – I just went through the steps to map aedesign.aetndigital.com to your site, and I didn’t experience any errors. Can you give this another try? It can take some time for the DNS changes to go through. I’m wondering if this was causing the error.
-
Thanks so much for looking into it. The ttl was set to 5 min and I still waited for over 12 hours. The issue comes when you click the purchase button – wondering if there is something bad cached for our domain. The nslookup externally clearly shows that the CNAME is setup correctly not sure what else I can do.
-
Ah – I apologize. The issue does only appear when you click “Purchase.” I had gotten all the way up to that point. I went ahead and manually added the domain to your account. Can you set it as the primary domain here?

Let me know if the subdomain begins working once you set it as the primary domain!
-
Yes that works! Thanks so much for helping out! How can I pay for the domain, because now when I try to map – the system tells me that the domain is already mapped.
Thanks so much!
-
Just sent the manual payment request your way through email! Let me know if you don’t receive it.
-
The payment is complete and I got the following message:
Payment Completed
Thank you, this payment has been completed. Thanks once again for your help!
-
Yep – we received the payment. Thank you so much! Let us know if you need anything else.
