I try to delete it, but then the entire format of the blog is changed – text is missing, indented, etc.

All I know how to post is to write in Word and copy/paste into New Post. It has worked for the past year; now I can’t get posting to work correctly.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Pasting straight from Word brings across unwanted code to your posts. I’m surprised there hasn’t been issues in the past. But write in word and paste in wordpress you should use the paste from word button in the New Post section (open the ‘kitchen sink’ and then it’s the paste button with the w). Alternatively you can just type directly into the New Post section of your dashboard (Post -> Add New) and that will autosave, and you can save drafts (this is the most reliable way to add posts).

If you want offline editing, so using word, you can actually post directly from word (2007 and newer), if you follow the instructions in the second link below.

To delete the code that you are seeing, go into the Text editor, and delete the extra code, while keeping the text there. Then go back into the visual editor and fix up any indentations etc.

Actually, at least one report of this junk code traced it to a browser add-on for IE on Macs. But yeah, copy pasting from Word is a terrible idea. If you like the way it works, use Windows Live Writer, which is even easier, lets you add tags, categories, and formatting, and is web compatible.
